Home Video Survey

In addition to us carrying out traditional home surveys by means of a surveyor coming to your property, Akers Removals are able to offer home surveys via video call.

This can be arranged in a few easy steps:

1. Call, email or fill in our contact form below to arrange a home video survey.

2. We will schedule a date and time with you and send you confirmation of the appointment.
We will provide a 1/2 hour time slot in which to expect the call.

3. Await our call at your scheduled date and time and we will carry out your survey.
Allow approx 45 minutes for the survey, avoiding distractions such as children, work etc if possible.

Here is a list of things you will need to have access to / prepare for the home video survey:

1. A mobile device, tablet or laptop with a camera and microphone.

2. WhatsApp. 

3. Open all cupboard and wardrobe doors prior to the call so we can view contents easily.

4. All areas of your home, including lofts, eaves, garages and sheds need to be viewable.
Please have lofts open and ready just before your appointment. If you are unable to access these places during the video, it is possible to make us aware of them and follow up after the survey with a video or photos. 

5. Access to the outside of your property.
When we come to do a face-to-face survey, one of the areas we look at is the access to your property for our vehicles. We will need to see the externals of your property also, so we can assess whether there are any access issues.

6. Have a think about any questions you may have regarding your move. 
Just like a face-to-face survey, your appointment is not only for us to view your property and contents, but for you to ask us any questions that you may have.
What can you expect to happen during the appointment?

Although we will take the lead on the video survey, here is a summary of what to expect during the appointment to help you prepare:
  • We will run through the basic information regarding your move including checking addresses, potential dates, and the service you are looking to have. We will of course run through any questions you may have and explain the different types of services available. We will also go through information about Akers Removals and the service you can expect to receive from us.
  • We will then ask you to show us round your property; we will need to see every room and each corner of the rooms so we can accurately gather an inventory of the goods to be moved.
  • Whilst we are walking round with you, we will need you to show the inside of cupboards and wardrobes in order for us to estimate boxes and/or packing requirements.
  • Once we have seen the inside of the property, we will need you to show us the garden, shed, garage (where applicable), and external access.
  • When we have completed the walk-round, we will check whether you have any further questions, and go through these if applicable.
  • We will follow up with a quotation via email.
